I’m flower obsessed and want you to join the fun!

Meet Ellen

I love working as a florist and running my business, Local Color Flowers, founded in 2008. I've built a community of flower friends at my shop over the years through events like my open studio, book club, weekly drop-ins, design challenges and more. I'm now expanding that community online with my classes, free weekly newsletter and YouTube channel with more online flower adventures planned.

I’ve been a member of the Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers since I started my business. I was the first florist to win their prestigious Allan M Armitage Leadership award in 2016 for my commitment to local flower sourcing. I am an MBA graduate with years of business experience before I became an entrepreneur. I’m also not afraid to get my hands dirty with farming on my resume. I’m obsessed with flowers and love leading the conversation.

What I do

Build community

I love creating environments and platforms for flower friends to meet, explore, learn and share their passion for flowers. I do that at my shop and online through my writing, recording and new endeavors in the works.

Share my obsession

I write a free weekly newsletter and make weekly YouTube videos all about flowers. I also offer online classes for floral professionals focusing on local sourcing.

Talk about flowers

I take my show on the road. I offer sustainable floral design demonstrations and speaking engagements about my local sourcing business model.
